About the event
A special webinar for care staff to support correct use of PPE and IPC management
Increasing COVID-19 cases and hospitalisations is being driven by the emergence of the BA.5 Omicron variant. Latest estimates for England are that COVID is now very prevalent and 1 in 30 people are currently infected with it.
This variant appears to have some “immune escape” characteristics, meaning that less protection against infection and illness may be provided by immunity from either vaccination or previous infection. As we know, people who have COVID do not always show symptoms but can still be infectious to people around them.
For professionals such as yourselves who work closely with older residents, this situation makes it even more important to adhere to current national guidance on testing in adult social care and the correct use of PPE and other infection prevention and control precautions.
