Continuing Care Training
In October 2007 the Department of Health published a National Framework for Continuing Care. It set out that anyone who is working with vulnerable people should be aware of how continuing care works.
Continuing care referral ensures that people in the community and in other settings are receiving appropriate funding for their care and do not have to spend their money when the State should lawfully fund the care.
Click on NHS Continuing Healthcare Assessment Training to download booking details. This training is provided free of charge by BCC/PCT for workers and managers in the nursing, residential and domiciliary care community and voluntary sectors.
The course focuses on identifying and initiating referral for those who may need to be considered for continuing care.

Inspecting for Better Lives - A CSCI Presentation
Click here to see notes from the presentation given by Elaine Picton, Provider Relationship Manager for CSCI at the London Skills for Care conference on 4th March 2008.
The chief message relates to the methodology of Inspection and the rationale for making judgements about the quality, and therefore the rating, of the service being inspected.
Questions subsequent to the Presentation revealed that the Government is reviewing the Regulations and Standards at present and Providers should look out for any announcements.
The final message is that Providers are not likely to be spoon fed with information regarding changes in the future. It is expected that Providers will access information from websites and other networks, in particular www.csci.org.uk which is regularly updated.

Skills for Care says social care workforce could double to 2.5 million by 2025

| Skills for Care says the adult social care workforce could double to 2.5 million by 2025 to meet the needs of millions of people who use services.
The State of the Adult Social Care Workforce uses new data from the National Minimum DataSet-Social Care (NMDS-SC) to model future workforce needs scenarios.
Under a maximising choice scenario where all who want direct payments receive them or have support care provided on a highly personalised basis then the total workforce would need to increase from the present 1.39 million to 2.5 million. . .
